Former NFL Pro David Vobora and wounded veteran Blake Watson are on a mission to transform lives. Their organization, the Adaptive Training Foundation (or ATF), is a high impact non-profit that helps anyone with life-altering injuries find fulfillment through adaptive performance training. Listen in as Joel and Jesse Stanley hear the origin story from Founder and CEO Vobora, a dead-last draft pick who nonetheless became an NFL starter, only to battle injuries and an opioid addiction before quitting and starting a gym. Watson, who lost a leg and suffered other severe mental and physical injuries when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan, was similarly at the end of his rope after years of rehab and a steady regimen of pills. He had the good fortune to move next to Vobora’s gym and began to take back his life -- eventually becoming the organization’s media director. In addition to their training programs - free to adaptive athletes - they provides services for those with PTSD, catastrophic injuries, and even those on the brink of suicide. ATF is also taking part in a study with Johns Hopkins that includes CBD oil. The ATF is an inspiring model for helping the gravely injured find new strength, purpose and brotherhood.
