About 3 years ago, I started researching my family tree with a free trial month on Ancestry. That small step led to connecting with relatives I never knew existed, finding out important details about our family history I never knew and giving me a deeper insight into family dynamics and a more compassionate understanding of certain family members.For some reason, I didn't continue with paid membership until January of this year. Once I signed on and more consistently began pursuing genealogy, I decided to get my DNA tested which opened up new avenues of research and revealed more new family members, many of whom I have yet to determine exactly how we are related. This journey has been absolutely fascinating and I wanted to share my discoveries with you. I was waiting for the right moment. That moment revealed itself a couple weeks ago when I saw a Facebook post made by Aine Dee. EP24: Lori & Aine - Genealogy, A Never Ending Journey

In January of this year, she came upon a traffic accident  and instinctively ran to comfort a dying man named Asim.
In the aftermath of his passing, she had a strong sense she needed to write a letter to his family to let them know about his final moments. The letter found its way  to them through the police department.  She has since forged a close relationship with Asim's family and assisted them in honoring Asim in meaningful ways.
Deeply impacted by  this time with Asim and his family and other supporting events, she purposefully embarked on formal education in how to help  the dying and grieving, learning  from world-renowned experts in the field.  Mid-September, she will complete her certification as an End of Life Doula through the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto

Jennifer has worn many hats over the years: Occupational Therapist, Health Care Project Manager, Run Coach; Author; Reiki Practitioner; Trail Runner; Mother/Wife; and more recently, an End of Life Doula. Although these roles may be distinct from one another, they share a common thread: helping others.
Her interest in End of Life care evolved following a series of deaths and events, including the deaths of several close family members, the death of a stranger, and her volunteer work in palliative care. With each of these moments, there was fear, pain, grief and suffering; but there were also moments of calmness, beauty and peace. ABOUT RAY ZAHAB
Canadian Adventurer & Founder of impossible2Possible (i2P)

On November 1, 2006, former "pack a day smoker" Ray Zahab and two friends, Charlie Engle and Kevin Lin, both accomplished runners, set out on an expedition to cross the Sahara Desert by foot. 111 days and 7,500 kms after leaving the coast of Senegal, Africa they completed their journey by stepping into the Red Sea.
This epic expedition had the trio running an average of 70kms a day without a single day of rest. National Geographic tracked the expedition by web, as well as the documentary film 'Running The Sahara', produced by Matt Damon and directed by Academy Award winner James Moll, was created in an effort to raise awareness for the drinking water crisis in North Africa. After witnessing and experiencing this water crisis in North Africa, Ray decided to leverage his future adventures to help raise awareness and funding for causes, like this one, that he supports and believes in.
In 2007, Ray ran the three coastal trails of Canada back to back and virtually non-stop, for a total distance of 400 kms. The Akshayuk Pass on Baffin Island, East Coast Trail Newfoundland and West Coast Trail in British Columbia.
Motivated by the Sahara run - Ray conceptualized the Canada ONExONE Run in May 2008. Along with a team of runners, Ray ran an average 80 kms per day in each of Canada's 13 Provinces and Territories in 13 days. School visits were arranged along the way, students participated and communities became engaged in many of the issues which ONExONE endeavors to address to help improve the wellbeing of the world's children. In Saskatoon alone, several thousand students and 27 schools were involved in school rallies and a city wide relay with Ray and the team.
In 2008, Ray founded impossible2Possible (i2P) (impossible2possible.com) an organization that aims to inspire and educate youth through adventure learning, inclusion and participation in expeditions. Youth Ambassadors are selected from around the globe then participate, at no cost, in all aspects of the expedition, from logistics and running to creating educational content and team support. This 2-part conversation with Master Channel, Frank W. Butterfield is one of the most profound I've had. In the first part of our conversation, I ask questions that came up when listening to Frank tell Slade Roberson of Shift Your Spirits how he became a channel.
Frank and I start off discussing the 1987 Shirley MacLaine miniseries which had a significant impact on Frank's awareness. As Frank discusses experiences he later recognized as channeling in his corporate life, it may even leave you wondering if you have channeled  yourself.
By the end of this episode, we begin to take a deep dive into some mind-blowing content that challenges the basic things we are taught in school about how to  succeed.

First learning to channel in 1990, Frank has worked both in and out of the corporate world. He has discovered that the best way to live his own life is to allow the Universe to sort things out for him but always remembers that your mileage may vary. Having traveled extensively most of his life, he currently resides in Daytona Beach and has no interest in racing cars or riding motorcycles, but does love the beach.

EP10: Frank W. Butterfield, Part 1 - There's No Such Thing as Getting Ready

In 2002, Slade Roberson had a stroke. Four years later, he started the wildly successful blog Shift Your Spirits. We talk about the hole in Slade's resumé and how he came to Frankenstein a job out of doing what he loves.
Slade Roberson is a professional intuitive counselor, author and podcaster of Shift Your Spirits, where he tries to write and speak about spirituality with fewer hearts and flowers than most New Age blather. He also mentors emerging intuitives, psychics, and healers in a program called Automatic Intuition.
I came across Slade's Shift Your Spirits blog about 7 years ago, drawn in by his paranormal memoirs which were  released weekly, like much-awaited episodes in the golden age of radio. I sank into them like one would reading a good book on an overstuffed chair by the fire. Slade has a no nonsense approach to storytelling,  yet there's a richness in his  language, like weaving together the strands of a beautiful tapestry. You really feel like you are in the room with him and experiencing whatever he is real-time.  He has a rare ability to capture the mystery and power of the invisible world and making it unfold into a practical and grounded reality.
So, you can imagine my delight when I discovered he was starting the Shift Your Spirits podcast and would be telling those stories I loved and more in a new format. He describes the podcast as sharing his brand of spiritual edification, paranormal experiences, personal development, and interviews with others who write and teach about these subjects.  I was  honored to be one of those "others" who were first interviewed.

​Slade is incredibly prolific. Even though he only started the podcast in March this year, he has already completed three seasons. I especially enjoy tuning into those which feature his personal stories and reflections, much like how I connected with his work in the first place. A couple weeks ago, I was headed out the door for a run and looked on my podcast playlist to choose something to listen to for the duration I was out. I chose Slade's  5 Self-help Books I don't Hate. As I listened, I had an a ha moment and reached out to Slade to request an interview.

EP8: Slade Roberson, Part 1 - The Frankenstein Approach to Career Creation

In Part 2 of of my conversation with Slade Roberson of Shift Your Spirits, we go deeper into the impact having a stroke had on Slade. As he struggled to regain his speech and rehabilitate his body,  his livelihood, his way of interacting with the world and the person he knew himself to be changed dramatically.
Ultimately, it's up to us to  alchemize the darkness that accompanies  life-altering challenges and use them for our own positive transformation. During the conversation, Slade comes to realize that with the stroke experience, he cracked a part of himself that ultimately allowed him to become the prolific creator he is today. That and, of course, the discipline he honed learning to code during his recovery.
