Nate is a true entrepreneur. After dropping out of high school at a young age, Nate started a business. In this episode of The Real Build, I sat down with Levi Lascsak, co-owner of Passive Prospecting. Levi and I talked about Youtube and its importance as a tool for contractors and real estate professionals. Levi has studied the ins and outs of Youtube for a long time. Youtube is the top source when people want to search for something. Levi has spent many hours researching the best strategies to make your business stand out, increase reach, and profit more.  

Levi went from being a former combat veteran selling cell phones at Costco to generating $90 million in real estate deals in less than a year with an organic YouTube channel.

In his first 30 days, with just 48 subscribers, he got a phone call from a buyer with a million-dollar budget. To date his channel has been viewed 148,000 hours with just 16,000 subscribers and is the most viewed real estate YouTube channel and ranked top 500 real estate producers in Dallas.

In this episode of The Real Build, I sat down with Robert Penney, the national director of continuous improvement at Skanska.  Skanska is one of the world's largest development and construction companies, with 2020 revenue totaling SEK 159 billion.  

Roberts's responsibility, first and foremost, is to encourage and enable a culture of continuous improvement within Skanska.  Robert supports his construction project teams through: 
-The facilitation of process improvement workshops.
-The communication of best practices.
-Building strong skill sets around Lean construction practices.

Roberts's goal is to allow people to love their work again.  Robert and I discussed topics like creating high-performing teams, knowledge sharing within a construction business, and the importance of process while acknowledging flexibility.

152. Encouraging And Enabling A Construction Culture Of Continuous Improvement - With Robert Penney Of Skanska

A topic I wanted to discuss is something that recently happened to me, and it hit me hard the last month. It was bothering me. A home that I do home watch for the previous three years was listed for sale for 5.5 million dollars. Now you are probably saying a couple of things. Wow, that’s an expensive home, and or ok, what’s the big deal?

The primary reason it bothered me was that I do these people's home watch and am a real estate broker. Ive gotten them properties in the past as well. I sold them the lot the home was on!  I designed and built the home, which was a huge slap in the face. I went above and beyond for these people. Making sure everything was fixed and running well for them.

But yet, they listed with another agent.  

At first, I was bothered by it. I'm competitive, but I also couldn’t comprehend why they did it. I looked for reasons. I blamed others for it. I was angry.

After a bit, I started to think back to everything I’ve learned through my personal development journey. I needed to stop pointing the finger at others and look at myself.

151. You Can’t Win Them All. You Have To Move Forward And Learn From Your Mistakes

In this episode of The Real Build, I featured Zach Burick, the owner of Duggins Welding in Salem, North Carolina.  Zach and his team specialize in installing structural steel for multi-story buildings, manufacturing centers, schools, churches, and commercial/office projects.  Zach and I talked about his process, leading a team at a young age, and the importance of structural steel in a project.

Zach spent nearly a decade working for Duggins Welding before acquiring the company in late October 2021. Zach started in the field as a general laborer while still in school at UNC Charlotte and worked his way to estimating, project management, and now owner. Zach's goal is to honor the foundation laid by Derek Duggins, who started the company in 1986, continue to grow the company, and build his legacy.

Duggins Welding is proud to have completed more than 30 years in business. We are family-owned and operated AISC CSE (Certified Steel Erector), and we concentrate on projects located throughout North Carolina.
